Your one solution to this is the SOS Online Backup. With the already existing and upcoming technology, it is the need of the hour to have a safe storage and backup for all our documents, data and addresses. And you know the thought that crosses our minds many times is what if we lose all of it? Children and adults both have access to these machines, and a simple click can many times make all our memories and work disappears in no time. Be it images, videos or business documents, we all have them stored on our various digital appliances. ![]() They say they're looking into it but have the zero knowledge to factor in to it, that makes things more difficult. These days’ memories and work all are stored on our phones, computers, and iPad. I'm hoping for some improvements to the share room system, and/or cross user folder sharing like dropbox offers. The syncing aspect works as well as all the other syncing systems I've tried, and the deduplication currently has my data at about a fifth of its actual size. Although you can get referrals all the way up to a 50Gb limit which is a drat good deal in my book. I'm up to about 13Gb off of referrals so far, so I'll stay out of the chain now. I started using dropbox and spideroak at about the same time, but stopped using DB after a week or so, spideroak worked much better for me. I've been championing SO since page two of the dropbox thread. I'm a longtime lurker and a 2Gb Dropbox user, and found this too good to pass up. ![]() ![]() Sleepy gary fucked around with this message at 10:43 on Apr 24, 2014 USE THE LATEST REFERRAL LINK IN THE THREAD. The first referral link in the chain for this thread is You do need to install the software and link it to your account for the referral credits to go through. If you don't like it just forget about it. Give it a try and help someone out with a referral link. If you get one referral and use that promo code before it dies, you will have 7gb of space for free. Some of us started a referral chain in the Dropbox thread but I think it's best to start a new one for SpiderOak.īUT WAIT, there's more! Forums poster iluvpr0n mentioned promo code WORLDBACKUPDAY freedom4 which will start you off with 6gb of free space if you sign up under a referral link (you BOTH get an extra gig). You can pay for more space in increments of 100gb for $10/mo or $100/yr. Also like Dropbox, you get extra free space for referrals, but at a rate of 1gb each. Like Dropbox, it comes with 2gb for free by default. There are clients for Windows, Mac, Android, iOS, and several flavors of Linux. The best part though is that the encryption keys are kept on your local machine(s) so SpiderOak staff cannot look at the content of your files at all. It's more advanced and takes some setup to get working how you want. That was the final kick in the rear end I needed to switch to SpiderOak. More recently, Dropbox had a "glitch" lasting 4 hours during which time anybody could access your entire account without a password. ![]() Recently, someone has filed an FTC complaint against them for misleading users about the security. Your files are encrypted/decrypted on their servers which means they have read access to all your plaintext stuff. I've been using Dropbox since the beginning but I never really cared for or trusted their security. UPDATE: If you are having issues with the client being unresponsive/slow/lovely, read this: Promo code WORLDBACKUPDAY may no longer work - use freedom4 instead for your free 6gb! AFTER YOU USE SOMEONE'S REFERRAL LINK, GENERATE YOUR OWN REFERRAL LINK HERE:
